Richard Cooper Furniture

A recent piece using reclaimed wood

This  bench ( or settle )  was created  from oak room fittings (skirtings, door frames, wall panelling, etc) saved from the client’s old house that had to be demolished. They asked if Richard knew where they could get a 5 foot bench to fit a specific space. As antique settles are always at least 6 feet long he suggested instead using their oak to make one to be just the size they wanted . The panels of the back have mahogany cross banding made with wood from the staircase, also saved from the demolished house. In addition to saving expense by re-using the old wood the finished piece  was much preferred by the client as they wanted to have part of the old house as a feature in their new one.
